Statistics R&D
In June of 2007, we have successfully reconfigured a
Carrier Gen III Controls system and saved our customer
approx. $24,000.00 per year in energy savings. We
worked closely with the in-house engineer to gather the
necessary information such as; occupancy schedules, and
temperature set-points for both occupied and unoccupied
times. With this information in hand, we were able to
provide the customer with a database of all controls polled
on the network and reconfigure the existing settings to
optimize the equipment usage and reduce electricity
consumption for 2 buildings. The buildings previously
ran the cooling towers 24 hours per day, 7 days a week
including holidays. By reducing the equipment run time
to 12 hours per weekday, half day Saturday, and off on
Sunday we can assure that equipment maintenance can be
extended and increase core component longevity. These savings are based
on an average "Winter" cost of $0.12 / kWh, with 480 Volt 3 Phase
power service. Shown below are the
devices shed and their consumption rates.
Cooling Tower Pump Motor - 1.5A - .72 kWh X
.12 Cents = $0.09/Hr to Operate x 102 Hrs = $8.81 per Week
Cost to Operate
Cooling Tower Hi Speed Fan - 22A - 10.56 kWh X .12 Cents
= $1.27/Hr to Operate X 6 Hrs = $7.60 per Week Cost to
Operate
Cooling Tower Lo Speed Fan - 5.5A - 2.64 kWh X .12 Cents
= $0.32/Hr to Operate X 12 Hrs = $3.80 per Week Cost to
Operate
Closed Loop Circulation Pump - 34A - 16.32 kWh X .12
Cents = $1.96/Hr to Operate X 102 Hrs = $199.76 per Week
Cost to Operate
$8.81 +$7.60 +$3.80 +$199.76 =$219.97 Per Week Savings
X 52 Weeks = $11,438.67 Per Year Savings / 12
Months = $953.00 Per Month Savings
NOTE: These savings do not reflect Southern
California Edison's "Summer" rates which could be as high as
$0.16/kWh.
The customers total investment in implementing this project
would pay for itself in just 1 months time. We were
able to guarantee a R.O.I. of 12 Times in the first year
alone.
